Household electrical appliances

Machines for household electrical appliances testing

The sector of household electrical appliances testing and all motor-operated and electrically operated appliances, which are also produced in very high volumes, requires the availability of very specific tests. Tests on electrical appliances must guarantee above all accident-prevention safety, which is essential for “CE” marking.

Other tests for electrical appliances are the functional tests, which must guarantee the quality and functionality of the product.

For example in the testing of a washing machine, the test objects are:

  • solenoid valve testing
  • drain pump testing
  • motor
  • complete testing

In the electrical appliance sector, there are 4 safety tests: AC ground, insulation resistance, dielectric strength and leakage current at the rated power supply voltage + 10%.

The parameters for household electrical appliances testing can vary from one item to another, according to the specific standards of each one, and according to whether it has simple or double insulation. This requires very versatile and easily programmable equipment.

A very important part of this equipment is the power supply section, which can vary greatly according to the power, frequencies, type of power supply: directly from the grid, through an inverter, direct current and so on.

The tests

The equipment, exclusively designed and manufactured by us, embraces the entire electromechanical and electrotechnical sector and the sectors related to preventive maintenance, repairs and rewinding.
Residual voltage test is used to detect the presence of residual voltage in a system, after the main source of power is disconnected.
The AC dielectric strength test is performed by setting an acceptability threshold of the maximum current.
Testing the electrical resistance of a winding is essential and is performed to measure the resistance of a winding.
The dielectric absorption ratio is important in the case of insulating materials in which the absorption current decreases rapidly.
Partial discharges (PD) are electrical discharges localized in the dielectric insulation, limited only to a part of the dielectric material.
